07. Zug - Kappel am albis - Husertal - Sihlbrugg

  • 37.3km
  • 794m

This route takes you from Zug to the north across the Albis chain and back over Zugerberg, featuring captivating diverse landscapes and pristine natural beauty. The route starts at Zug Oldtown. Riding alongside the Lake before turning North at Chollermüli, following the Lorze. We are approaching Steinhausen Wald on quiet farm roads. Ride past the Waldheimer lake at Steinhausen wald and exit towards the north. After a short and steep climb, we ride on towards Uerzlikon on fine gravel roads. In the following part, we follow farm roads among lush green pastures riding in and out of forests and slowly gaining elevation. We ride past Seleger Moor and Goom Hill before turning South.

It is a fast and long descent into Sihlbrugg. Zig-zagging across the hill and descending on the other side to the Lorze. Ride past the Hollgrotten Caves, and ride upstream until we reach the Power Plant. We climb from the valley just before the Lorzentobel Bridge, on the steepest road in the Canton of Zug. This short but challenging climb richly rewards us with breathtaking views of Zug and the Lake below.

Continue towards Allenwinden for the last climb of the route. That follows a long descent across Zugerberg to Zug's old town, passing the picturesque St. Veran Chappel on the way.
