09. Baar - Türlersee

This Route goes north across Canton Zurich and takes a loop around Turlersee before descending into the Albis Chain. A picturesque forest surrounds the idyllic Türlersee. The clear waters invite you to take a cool dip on hot days.

Starting in Baar, following the Lorze before entering the forest and climbing on smooth gravel roads, we soon pass the Motorways viaduct and reach the farmlands. Here we get the first view of Zugersee and the Rigi in the distance as we leave the forest behind and enter the rural idyll.

First, we pass Kappel am Albis and ride through Rifferswil on wide open fields. For a short distance, we follow the National MTB route No. 22. Connecting Zurich with Baar.

We soon reach the side of Turlersee, approaching from the West, via Aegust am Albis. But we have to wait until we get to the northern side to have a good view of the lake. But it does not disappoint. The lake is surrounded by dense forest, with perfect gravel roads.

Once we leave the lake behind, a short climb is required before we start the long descent into the Albis Chain. It is a fast and long descent into Sihlbrugg. Ride back to Baar through the forest of Baarburg.
